Cape Damask and Charlton Paisley
Newark, NJ – Thibaut’s new “Tidewater” collection
reflects on the earthy, natural beauty of sandy beaches, wetland marshes, local
grasses, pine trees, and Spanish oak. Sumptuous damasks, rich paisley and floral
patterns, stately stripes, and woven plaids embrace the area’s cultural
focus on historic preservation while maintaining focus on today’s styles.
Rich reds, browns, sage, khaki, sisal, pine, and other colors taken from nature
make the patterns look handsome and elegant, while some of the slate and sand
tones give the designs a cool appearance.
Lush foliage intermixed with exotic birds, shells, coral, aloe and cactus
give coastal flair to the historic design “Low
Country.” Browns,
beiges, and stone blue give the pattern a rustic feel. Chairs, ottomans, and
other furnishings can be upholstered with “Heritage
Houndstooth,”
a classic woven houndstooth fabric in a coordinating color palette.
The large
Jacobean pattern “Dorchester” is
a stylized interpretation of plantation flora. The grand scale of the design
and rich colors yield a clean, polished look. This design pairs well with the
woven detail found in “Oakley
Plaid,” a wallpaper design taken from an antique textile. “Charlton
Paisley,” another large-scale design, is an intricate rendition of
a vintage print with fine, detailed accents. The paisley pattern also comes
in a printed
fabric. “Cape
Damask,” a soft woven chenille fabric,
is an additional decorating option for furnishings.
Botanical ferns overlay
a tailored stripe background in “Sylvan.”
The design is sophisticated yet has a relaxed, cabin-like appeal. A simple
coordinating pattern, “Sylvan
Stripe,” replicates the look,
but without the ferns. In the grand-scale design “Beaufort
Damask,”
a metallic overlay and worn strie background capture the elegance of an antique
woven document. The design comes in metallic over red, brown, and olive grounds,
as well as in cream, teal, and black colorways.
“Carolina” is a stylized floral design influenced by the Arts & Crafts
era. It has a tapestry feel with a creative, lyrical stitched technique. A
grass weave can be found in “Colleton,” a coordinating woven
fabric. The fabric imparts a soft, natural, and casual elegance to upholstered
furnishings.
Large, stylized clusters of sea oats, caladium, ferns and coastal
grasses are found in “Sweet
Grass.” The pattern has a poetic,
toile-like quality, and pairs beautifully with “Tidewater
Velvet,”
a plush, supple velvet in a broad range of colors from navy and ebony to camel
and aqua.
Printed and woven companion fabrics complimenting the above designs
